Whitework Embroidery

Whitework embroidery is when the ground fabric is cut away from the design, also called cutwork.

It is also called Richelieu embroidery, originating in Italy and introduced into France by Cardinal Richelieu, it became extremely popular during the 16th and 17th Centuries and a law was passed in England that only the Noblest in the land could be seen to wear it.

Each piece of this very beautiful bed linen is hand embroidered and unique.

Baby/Boudoir pillows are available here.
